about

Isolation Studies #1: The Coma is a 10-track tone poem depicting the experiences of a nameless narrator. The basic narrative conceit is that although the body is asleep, the mind is still receiving and processing information from the five senses, and that these stimuli are transformed into a nautical dream sequence. Noises in the hospital room, the medications administered, the doctor’s conversations, the gathering of family and friends, all take on various symbolic oceanic forms in the narrator’s mind in this “voyage” to recovery, culminating with the psychological confrontation of the id (which takes the form of a massive glacier) and eventual release.
